A voice is calling,
“Clear the way for the Lord in the wilderness;
Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God.
4 “Let every valley be lifted up,
And every mountain and hill be made low;
And let the rough ground become a plain,
And the rugged terrain a broad valley;
5 Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
And all flesh will see it together;
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah 40 vs. 3-5
A still, small voice coming from the lonely and deserted places of our faith. The voice of comfort, proclaiming the glory of God and the coming day of the Lord. The voice crying out in the wilderness to clear a way. To make straight the path between our heads and hearts. To become full of knowledge and the zeal of our first love for our Lord and savior, Christ, who is the embodiment of both flesh and spirit.
The message is one of restoration, the restoration of children to their fathers and fathers to their children. It is a message of peace. Not static, stagnant peace, but peace with movement, kinetic energy and the ability to change and be changed. It is peace finding resolution in the presence of imminent war.
Because some of these writings can be provocative, and sometimes deal with “taboo” subjects within faith, politics, and morals, I have chosen to keep my identity hidden. I’m not interested in commercializing or branding, only good conversation between God’s good creatures.
That said, I’ve lived a lifetime as a pastor, a counselor, a writer, an artist, musician, husband, father, and a teacher. My only hope is the life I’ve lived, which is a narrative of it’s own, can offer some bit of wisdom into how we all see our lives now and forever.
Peace to you in these troubled times.
